This MTH engine has had relatively few operating hours, and now needs a new board, which is estimated to cost $250 US plus labour and shipping.

My question is that I am not sure it is worth fixing at this point. It is an earlier MTH  PS2 engine, and they now have PS3. I like the looks and road name, however I am concerned that repairing this engine will end up costing about the same as what I paid for it in the first place. The cost of engines has also gone up since I purchased this in the early 2000's, so maybe the price is not that unreasonable. Have I reached the point where this engine is not worth repairing?

I realise this is a difficult question to ask, so I am looking for a "cold business viewpoint" with any input into the pros and cons of making this kind of costly repair.
