Happy New Year 2024!

I purchased MTH Railking Imperial Pennsylvania B-6sb 0-6-0 #7136 steam switcher model (30-1573-1) from forum sponsor Trainz on Wednesday 12/27/2023. It arrived in Connecticut on Saturday 12/30/2023 after a trip on Fedex from Buford, Georgia to Keasbey, NJ to Stratford, CT to me. I unpacked it on the last day of 2023 and examined it closely. It was described by Trainz as “new-in-box,” and it is exactly that. The pickup rollers and wheels clearly had never been on a track and the model was absolutely in new condition. So, I put it on my 10’-by-5’ layout, took some photographs, and gave it a brief test run. This is the 6th locomotive I’ve bought from Trainz and the experience has been like this every time. Very satisfied.

For this first post of 2024, Lionel Pennsylvania N5c caboose #6437 is bringing up the tail end.

very pretty. I hope you have a lot of good running and fun with your new acquisition. I’ve bought quite a few items from trainz and never ever had an issue. They stand behind what they sell. Have a very happy new year

Mel, beautiful little locomotive, check the screw on the pickup roller I’ve circled, she looks a little cocked, if it’s tight, loosen it a wee bit, and align it better straight, ……that might give you a hiccup entering a switch, or going over a filled in grade crossing…….it’s always a good idea on any new-to-you locomotive ( new or used ) to do a spot fastener check, …..doesn’t necessarily mean you got to take the shell off, I just like to at least check the ones I can see and get to easily ……

Good eye Pat. I saw it too but forgot to write it in my post.

A screw check is a good idea.

Pat,

Thanks for the reply. The pickup roller is the first thing on my list to check out.

Trainz has been proven to be a good source of engines and cars for me also.  I do get a little concerned when their high end locos are sold with the warning that they have not been tested, but every one I have purchased with that warning in their ad has worked right out of the box.  Have had some battery issues with MTH, but that is normal.  They have such a high turnover of stuff, you can put what you are looking for if they don't have it, in your 'Wish List', and at some point you will get an email telling you they have one.  You can set up several wish lists picks too, and Trainz lowers prices on a regualr basis and notifies you, and hopefully you will get what you want at the right price before someone else grabs it, which has happened a couple times with me, waiting for just $5 more to come off the price. I just picked up an MTH 2-6-0 that I am relabeling for the Strasburg #89, since Lionel's price was a bit more than I could spend, and my 100 buck purchase that will hopefully look almost as good as the Lionel when I am done.  And from a recommendation on this forum, Highball Graphics has a beautiful set of #89 herald and numbers.

Nice engine Mel. Is that the same series as your Long Island and my New Haven.  I didn't Know your interests extended to Pennsylvania

@Wvm,

My Long Island version was made in 2017. The Pennsylvania was made in 2013. It is the first PRR engine that I've bought in almost 20 years. Steam switchers are a good fit for my small 10'-by-5' layout and this one was reasonably priced and in new condition. I do have some older PRR steam engines that are favorites, especially the G-5s 4-6-0 types that ran on Long Island. I didn't buy a New Haven B-6sb because the Belpaire firebox was never used by the New Haven...
