I’ve read about the ‘solder center rail to frog’ fix for when the red wire land pattern on the PCB burns up. I tried this fix instead using a Dremel tool to cut out the PCB and a groove into the underlying plastic to bury a wire below the surface of the PCB. Works fine now.

This damage occurs when there is a high current event (derailment, board failure) on a leg of the switch opposite the lockon. All the current passes through that PCB when this occurs.

I think the wire is a more permanent fix. 
I have several Real Trax switches with burnt-out red wire elements on the PCB. The cause I find is sparking of pilot wheel on the center rail casting of the switches. My fix is to bypass the PCB as can be seen in the photos. I also coat the sides of the center rail casting with a black epoxy paint to avoid sparking.
