I decided to lower an older SD70ACe to match a newer one, I also decided to bring the trucks in at the same time, this has probably been shown before but here's some pics any way! The tabs on the trucks are filled down aprox 1.2 mills and the motor block has 40 thou styrene contacted on to help with slop. The side frames have been recessed to bring them in a small amount also on the truck( top photo) The two side frames have to be treated differently because of the gears on one side. Theres a second hole in the truck that is used to re-mount the recessed trucks, a new corresponding hole is drilled in the side frame.           Stephen from Down under      (cTr...Choose the Right)

I have two MTH UP heritage SD70's. One from the first run and one from the second with the newer lowered frame.

I've noticed on the newer lower model, power trucks do not have as much clearance between truck and frame to navigate steeper grades & inclines as the older version.

George Bush SD has problems on grades the older Western Pacific SD 70 clears perfectly.

Also, don't know if its an illusion but it seems in catalog photos, space between truck and frame on MTH's newest diesels are wider then ever.

Looks awful

Stephen, nice job.  I remember doing this back in 2006 my only comment is that the lowering should only be done on the SD70ACe's which have that dimple in the chassis.  The newer runs without it are all fine.

Christopher,  I've been hooked on diesels for quite some time.  My idea of modern era still keeps a steam program running so there is some hope us.
