Hello everyone. I am hoping someone on here may be able to tell me if an idea I had will work without me having to buy the freight cars and find out the hard way...LOL.

MTH makes 50 foot boxcars of many types. I have an older run 50 foot MTH boxcar in Maine Central harvest gold with the green pine tree logo. As I like scale couplers, I want to put some on this beloved car. My question is are there any of the newer 50 foot boxcars with the Kadee mounting points that share the underframe design? It would make life easier to swap out simply rather than drill holes and mess up. If so I can find a 3 rail guy who does not care and pay the shipping costs to swap with them.

I would also love to know if the underframes on the corrugated auto racks from MTH are interchangeable for the same reason. MTH makes all the right roadnames I want, but most are the older run with no Kadee mounts.

Thanks

Other solutions:

1. Another idea is to make a template out of aluminum sheet which you could use as a guide to drill out the mounting holes and achieve accurate hole alignment.

2. Ship the underframes to me for drilling and mounting of Kadee couplers. I do custom building, repairs and modifications to cars and engines.  We could negotiate a fee for this work.
