MTH warranty

Has anyone had to get a refund for their purchase of a MTH locomotive under the MTH warranty? If so, how did it go? Did you have to fight for the refund or was a no hassle issue? My understanding (please correct me if I am mistaken) is that under the 1 year warranty if purchase from a MTH dealer, a refund for purchase price will be given if the dealer cannot repair the locomotive.

We had an issue with a PS3 Berkshire 765 imperial just recently. Could not get the smoke motor to work and the smoke heat element ran as soon as power was applied. My dealer’s tech is excellent and tried everything. Dealer would have refunded purchase price but found another unit at another dealer and we got that one. The defective one went back to MTH for refund to the dealer. So the warranty works and is in effect but you would deal with the hobby shop from which you purchased the loco.
