The latest MTH catalogue offers an unusual Western Maryland Heavy Pacific 4-6-2 and a full set of Madison passenger cars in the premier line. Not sure this has ever been offered before.

I was wondering if WM actually used Pacifics somewhat like this and what colors the engine/cars may have been painted. What shade of  green on the cars in particular. This unique set is somewhat interesting to me.

The Western Maryland used lighter Pacifics (class K-2) for their passenger service as most trains were only two cars long - a coach and a postal-baggage. Some K-2 locomotives were coal burners and some were oil fired. They were numbered in the 200 series and were painted black with yellow lettering and tender striping.

Passenger equipment was dark green with yellow lettering and the coaches were unusual in that the windows were deeper than most other heavyweight coaches.

Correct kits have been made in O scale for the cars.

As far as I know, no correct or even near correct K-2 Pacific has been made except a few scratch built 2 rail models done by Ken Henry of Baltimore - now deceased.
