I still have my first DCS remote. The thumbwheel was replaced and it kept working for some time. It's been dropped and banged by me and the grandkids. It was even left out in the rain! I think it's like 13 or 14 years old???
After my last debacle with getting things working, somehow this remote lost the TIUs?
It has them listed still ( TIU#2, and #3). If I press read it says it can't find them?
The last session when everything was going wrong I tried to tether this remote to TIU #2 and it just froze. So I figured it was done working.
So I start typing questions here now, about how to restore the lost TIUs without deleting everything and I ran back down there and tried one more time. I know Barry's right about tethering so why did it freeze?
This time it didn't find anything on the first press of the read button. So I tethered it one more time, and bang! It found the TIU#2 and ran engines.
So even though I handle this remote gingerly, sure enough I go inside and the transceiver board is not fully inserted. Not only did I press it back in, but this time I added some foam to see if I could prevent this from happening again. The same thick foam I used to support the thumbwheel. Now she works again!
I figured MTH gave us the max speed setting on the new android release today so maybe I'm on a roll! I got my oldest remote back from the dead again. I may need to play the lottery....?
