I purchased this kit over a year ago for $5 from a LHS that was closing. I finally found a spot and some time to put together. NATRON is my son Nate and me (Ron). I'm a sloppy model builder, so this called for weathering to hide some mistakes.

Well done Ron!

Great job Ron - I like the colors a lot.

You made it into a nice, customized building. Good work!
Natron is the same of the salt used by ancient Egyptians in embalming; to dry out the corpse. Perhaps your next build could be a nice brick structure with the sign "Natron Embalming"

Your great work with your son is an inspiration to me. I bought ten AMERITOWNE building kits 10 or so years ago and never built them. I am now building an O-gauge home layout for enjoyment by my two great-grandsons (Matthew, age 3) and Hudson (age 2). I recently uncovered the kits from the closet, and the boys can participate in the assembly process and name the buildings, perhaps as: MATT MANOR (for the apartment house kit) and HUDSON'S HOBBY SHOP (for the store kit). They might suggest: MEEMA'S MERCANTILE (for the department store). FYI, "Meema" is southern talk for "grandma."

It is not always the result that is important but the time you spend with your son. I remember modeling with my dad and brother -- My son never really got the model RR bug but we did race 125 and 250 cc dirt bike, boating, fishing and racing on the Hudson on SeaDoo's. New hobby - target and skeet shooting.
Looks great
Ron,
Great job on the building. Thanks for sending the series of pictures with it.

Thanks fella's for the kind words. I took a few hours this week and worked on some scenery down along that small triangular area of the layout (Trees, ground cover, dirt and stone). I also ripped up the foam road and made one out of Masonite. It's just a little more durable.

The "reverse side" of Masonite is textured, so it suggests the texture of asphalt when installed "upside down" as a street or driveway or parking lot on a train layout and painted very dark grey.

My son is the Reading fan. We're not too terribly far from you. We sometimes take a ride up to 61 to the RNBMRR or the Reading museum.
