I like scale, so I never thought I'd do it. At my LHS I saw this used (obviously) crane and could not resist. While considering the purchase I talked with an older gentleman who said he had five such cranes on his layout. This is my first crane of any sort. Silly little purchase and but am as happy as a kid. The chain was from a cheap necklace I bought at Boscovs, a local department store. When I explained to the sales lady why I was looking for a really cheap necklace with a "scale" looking chain she was thought it was a hoot and helped me rummage through piles of the cheap jewelry. The brown chain has a nice rust colored appearance. So, in the end, I did not spend much money but I had a great time and I do like the looks of the little car. My LHS techie told me that the one with Lionel Lines in a single arched line is the rare one and I should keep my eyes open for one of those. Hey, wait a minute - am I turning in to a collector? This hobby is great anyway you look at it. You can also see part of my little layout in the background. The C&O boxcar in the immediate background was purchased from an OGR member while I was at York. I bought the forklift (2 for 5$) at York also.
