My very small layout, 3' x 12' is far from a model railroaders dream layout, when it comes to landscaping or even reality. I've done that and been there. Nowadays I get pure enjoyment out of creating animations with my large scale trains and recreating the 1950's feel of Lionel.

As long as a layout meets your needs for enjoyment that's all that matters! I always wondered what it would be like to be a kid in the post-war period when those accessories were in their heyday. Layouts like yours allow myself and others to have that experience - when trains were a staple in the toy universe of kids and provided hours of playtime which stoked the imagination. Thanks for sharing!

I like your catenary setup. great job😎
Dan, you have a delightful collection of well-tuned operating accessories. Also, you did a great job of making YouTube videos of them in action.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Really nice work, Dan. Love all of the accessories. After watching the videos, I need to add a few more accessories to my wish list.

Dan, You have a really great collection of operating accessories arranged to make your layout a busy town indeed! Thank you for sharing the videos! They sure do bring the child out in in all of us!
Dan, wonderful layout! Mark is right it brings back the days of being young! The kids young and older would really love it! Nice work!
Dan.....it is fantastic. Love the PostWar feel. Will we see you at York this week?

That's a really neat layout and I love all the operating accessories. You certainly have a great collection of them as well, and all working too. You did a great job of fitting them all on a small layout, very nice use of space, what a nice postwar layout.
Although I prefer command control (I'm a sucker for the electronics), I am constantly drawn to the postwar layouts with their operating accessories just for the pure enjoyment. Maybe someday I will have a layout of each type. I do have some of the new command accessories on my current and only layout. My grandson loves them! If you have any grandkids they are very lucky (I bet very happy to visit grandpa too).
Thanks for posting these nice videos, I really enjoyed watching them! Those were also well done!
One of the nice things about this hobby is being able to create your own reality. I really like all of the operating accessories that you incorporated. Your layout is one of a kind, as it should be. Good job.
Dan, your layout is ideal to entertain children, girls as well as boys, with all of your operating accessories that you have running so well.
My recollection is that you may still have at least one child at home. If your child enjoys the trains and accessories, you might consider having him invite his friends over. Or, if you do not have a child at home, you can invite families with children to your house to see your layout, and press the buttons that activate the accessories.
I have several of the accessories that you have, but some of mine need a little tuning to make them work better. You have inspired me to do that.

Love the layout, Dan - some things never go out of style.

No children at home, but daughter #2 still has her stuff stored in the attic over our garage. While I'm still young, 70, I hope that she and her boyfriend speed up the process of engagement, marriage and most of all, a house to put her stuff in.....LOL Then I will finally build my dream post-war layout.
Looks great Dan. All of those accessories work like new. Just getting them all operating is a major accomplishment in itself.
Enjoy!

At the moment we have three. They have some interest in my trains, both the garden railway and my Lionel layout. Time will tell if they pick the hobby up as they get older.
I really enjoyed your videos. Thank you for posting them.
