Happy Birthday to your layout Marty! And thank you for sharing all the Fun Stuff!
Chief Bob (Retired)
Congratulations Marty on maintaining your layout for 33 years of enjoyment. I hope you will continue to enjoy it for another 33 years. It is a long way for NC to Boston but if I ever get there, I look forward to taking you up on the offer of a tour.
Thanks and happy railroading,
Don
33 years young......happy birthday layout and sharing it with us through the years. And a big thanks to you for all the help you have given us through those years.......Paul
Congrats Marty! Hope I get back up toyour area so I can visit your layout in person.
Marty is a class act. He helped me find anengine a few months ago by giving me some great advice and guidance. He took the time to help me, and he has not even met me. Marty is a great asset to the hobby for all that he haand one, and continues to do?
OK Marty, stop fooling us, you started building this when you were 10, right?
Congratulations Marty. I was lucky enough to see the layout on a Boston trip about 8 years ago. I just went through the pix and relived the great memories. You are truly one of the good guys in the hobby. Keep sharing.

MARTY CONGRATS AND HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED TEARING IT DOWN WITH A NEW BUILD IN MIND? SOME DAY WILL GET A DAY TRIP TOGETHER AND VISIT.
STEVE
Steve, no reason to tear it down. It is the end result of what I wanted. Stop by when you can.
Congratulations Marty [and Dottie of course]. I can appreciate the long hours and hard work that evolved as a labor of love. And, I envy your 33 years of achieving your goals. Because over that same period of time I became the master of dismantling layouts due to repeated company transfers during the '70s and'80s---but two most recently in '08 and'09 due to age-related health issues.
No question, your story is a great example, in particular for the newbies and semi-elders.
Congratulations Marty on some VERY significant accomplishments and contribution to the hobby of model trains, 3 rail in particular.
Here's to another 33 years with your family and your layout!
Congratulations, Marty on 33 years with your layout! It's great you were able to have so many wonderful experiences with it!

It must be interesting to ponder what your 3 rail layout vision was back then...long before command control, scale fidelity and that little thing called the www was common place. Most anything 33 years old is obsolete and useless these days. And yet an engine made 100 years ago is perfectly at home on that layout today. Deeep thoughts!
Bruce
Bruce, no old rusty relics on this layout. No old post war and not one mechanical E unit on the property. As time marched on, I always kept up with buying what was current. My early goal was to build something that would reflect my memories of the Pennsylvania Railroad. I spent every summer in Pennsylvania living with my aunt and uncle. I grew up with the GG-1, Box cabs, and late PRR steam. I wanted long main lines that would carry long PRR passenger trains. I wanted live catenary. I achieved my goal. I built the layout with proper materials and used heavy wiring. All my panels used quality switches. All my trains are scale. Most of the engines are MTH. I do have about 60 Lionel Legacy locomotives. They are good quality.
I was fortunate to be the first to get a glimpse of TMCC and I was running DCS before anyone saw it. We ran DCS in the early days with a laptop computer. It has been a great run. As long as I am above ground, the layout will be available to all my fellow OGR Forum members.
Thank you everyone for all the kind words.
Marty
Love that layout. Best tinplate catenary I've seen. Great variety of trains and vignettes. Can't wait to edit the video of it.
Congratulations Marty on another great year of train running! Lynley and I look forward to getting the chance to see your creation sometime.
Marty F,
Congrats on an incredible longevity with you layout, and thanks for all the help down thru the years!

Congratulations Marty!
Congratulations and best wishes to Marty... truly one of this hobbies stand up guys!
I can atest it is a lay-out you should see if you get in the Boston area or make a special trip to see it. Marty and Dotty are very accomodating, made time for us on short notice later in the day after arriving back from a trip. Happy belated Birthday to one great lay-out, Marty is a great guy and builder.
Sorry for being late to this party but indeed Happy Birthday.
I can't add anything new to the story of how Marty and Dottie graciously welcome you into their home and share their love of the hobby. Nor can I add to waht has been said about Martys over-the-top approach to helping others. What I can say is if you get the chance - take them up on their kind offer and see this layout.
The blend of traditional track and hi-rail action is extraordinary.
Paul
Marty...got any "baby" pictures of the layout?
How about current photos?
This Spring, I was talking to someone, comparing photos of our layouts. We each had layouts in roughly the same size room and each about at the same place in the process (benchwork/fascia/track all in place, scenery not started yet). His was 2-rail O and mine is On30. I'll never forget the conversation past that:
Me: Looking good, when did you start on that?
Him: About 40 years ago.
Me: Nice!
Him: So, how long have you been working on yours?
Me: Uh... well, for about 8 months.
Him: WHAAAAAT?
Thank you guys for the kind words. Dotty and I have been busy getting ready for LCCA. I promise I will get some current pictures out while LCCA is on.
thank you,
Marty
Marty, congratulations and Happy Layout Birthday! Those years have a glory all their own, as we experience when sharing the hobby with others. As so many have stated, the knowledge and willing help you have provided are without question a blessing for us all. CONGRATULATIONS, Sir...... Jesse
