I ran into a kind of bizarre situation that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I have 2 TIUs connected to blocks on my layout. I run the TIUs in Super TIU mode. I am running v5.0 of the DCS software. I power the TIUs with 4 PW ZW transformers; each feeding the Variable ports on the TIUs.
After creating and activating the tracks for each of the Variable channels and setting the voltage to 22 volts (max), I was able to add a MTH PS2 diesel to the system, pressed Start Up and away we go :-) . This was all done yesterday with great success (oh Joy...oh Bliss!!). I ended the day by turning down the voltage on all the ZWs to zero voltage before pulling the plug on everything.
This morning (with GREAT anticipation) I powered everything up (the TIU and ZWs are all temporarily connected via a HD extension cord) by plugging in the cord. I then turned up the voltage on all the ZWs to 19 volts each. I then turned on the DCS remote and saw the engine I added yesterday was still in the Active list. BUT....I couldn't access it. I deleted the engine from the remote and went to re-add it. That's when I got the "Engine not on track" message. Weird.....
I checked the Track setting in the remote and all Variable channels were set to 22 volts (max). That's when I checked the actual voltage on the track with a voltmeter and got a reading of ZERO volts! What!??
On a whim, I varied the Track setting voltage off of the 22 volt setting and "wha-la".....we have 18 volts going to the track! I set the Track voltage back to 22 volts.
I was now able to re-add the engine I deleted earlier and was able to perform Start Up and run with success.
Has anyone encountered this situation before? Is this a routine I will always need to go through? I just powered everything down (as explained above) and will try my power up process again to see if this happens again.
BTW.....MTH DCS is SO COOL......and I have SO MUCH to learn about it still!
