No Gary, not a "trophy wife", just a hard-working young woman having a near-miss with fame.  

It's a well-known Ives show room photo.  She is believed to have been a receptionist at the showroom, and was asked to pose with the display for an Ives catalog cover shot.  Unfortunately, the decision was made to use only the display and leave her out.  1929 I believe.

No one knows for sure who she was or what her name was. She went back to work after the photo session and one wonders how she felt when the catalog picture came out without her in it.

The Myrtle Story / Part 2 / Time to fix Ives History

Back in 1929 the Ives Toy Train Company, promotional department published their 1929 Catalog with this famous model from New York, Myrtle. This photo was also used in the New York Times.
