Just purchased a 20-3024-1 Proto 1 J Class on that auction site. Supposedly new, and it looks it. I know little, but know enough to lose the original battery before attempting to run, so I installed a new BCR and gave it a try. Everything seems to work fine, except it will not go in reverse. When pressing the direction button it appears to be cycling through normally, but when in the reverse "cycle" it sits there and no back-up light. I tried a reset-to-factory-defaults (18) earlier today, but it changed nothing. I opened the tender back up wondering if I knocked something loose when installing the BCR, but all looked well. Using Z4000 X-frmr.

Anyone ever experience this/ have any input on the issue?

Thanks. Steve B

Backup light does not come on until motor movement.  Does it play chuff sounds in reverse with no movement?  Or just sit in neutral?

You can check the solder joints of the motor wires on the engine side plug, but if it consistently runs in fwd, just not reverse you either have a sticking relay on the PS-1 bottom board, or the transistor control of the relay is bad.  They are fixable and or board can be replaced.  I have parts and do this work if you need help.  Email in profile.  G
