Was there such a beast in the real world? as I've seen a kit I would love to build.
Would ask on the narrow gauge forum but it seems to have died over there.

This one (D&RG #11) showed up on a quick Yahoo search. It's listed as narrow gauge in the D&RG roster. Many others were pictured - many on your side of the pond.

Yep. Joey Richards has two modified Bachmann 0-4-2T's on his 7-square-foot Spruce Coal & Timber Railroad (OGR, Run 269).
This is the Backwoods kit.
Ah. Not saddle tank, but camel-back. Good question. Was there ever a narrow gauge camel-back? Got to be super-obscure if there was. Kit looks nice though.
