I have a 90VA 19 volts fixed MRC transformer (25+ years old) that has blown its circuit board.  The actual AC step down transformer is still in working order.

Is there anyone out there who can provide a schematic for a straight forward scratch built circuit board (with specified components) that could be used to provide variable AC power to locomotives.  I cannot find anything on line or off the shelf that would put this power supply back in use.  Also any advice as how to construct a circuit breaker for said transformer would also be appreciated.

thanks very much

You can use a Lionel BW controller, or a MTH Z-1000 / Z-750 controller powered by your good transformer for pretty good train control. Building a home-brew controller would be a reverse engineering of any of these, or of the board you already have, or of an electronic transformer similarly constructed like the MRC Tech II O-27 series, Lionel MW/RS-1, or Troller TAC 2001.
