Need help - PS2 and BCR's | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a USPS Genesis PS2 that had a low battery. The engine was running fine - sounds bell, engine sounds were all working with the low battery. I replaced the battery with a BCR1 and it hasn't run well since. I have lost the sound, bell and the engine is now locked in one direction. I have tried unlocking direction with no luck. I tried putting a fully charged battery back in but that did not work as well. I run conventional witha Z4K as transformer power. Any ideas?

If you installed a bCR1 in a PS2 engine that is the problem

From J &W website --->

We now offer the BCR 2, which is used in the PS2, three volt system. If your PS2 engine uses a battery pack with two AA batteries, in a blue plastic wrap, or your engine has been upgraded to PS2, you can now replace that battery with the BCR 2. Check with your instruction to see if the PS2 engine uses a three volt or the instruction say: 2.4 volt battery.

Thanks - my genesis must be an early PS2 engine which was still using the 9 volt type battery. A BCR2 would not fit into the battery plug.

My fault, should have realized they have diverent connectors.
