Newbie here.  I need your expertise.  I recently obtained a MTH 4-6-4 NYC Rail King Locomotive + tender on Ebay for $73.  On the box it shows part no 30-1025, which the MTH website shows as a Protosound 1.  The first thing I did when I received it was attempt to charge the battery (on the track) for about an hour.  When I went to run it , it ran well, (both forward and reverse) but there is no sound.

My first thought was that the sound must be turned all the way down.  I  flipped over the tender and there was no volume adjustment screw in the hole on the bottom of the tender.  So I opened up the tender.   This is what I found.

It does not appear to be a protosound 1 locomotive.

I entered the locomotive number on the MTH website, and it shows this locomotive to be part number 30-1121-0 - which would make it a Loco-sound equipped locomotive.

I was actually pleased to learn this.  My plan was to use this for a Christmas Village display, (2 months a year)  Which would mean that it would be in storage 10 months each year.  Having a Loco-sounds train would mean that I wouldn't have to worry about a dead battery (and the dreaded 3 clicks of death).

So, what do I do now?  I am using a Z-1000 Transformer and old school Lionel track.

Thanks

Doyle
