Hi folks, I'm in the early planning stages of a 3 rail doodlebug and just aquired this lionel RS3 drive truck to power it...my problem is does anyone know what model this is off of{recent/old?}, what electronic reversing control it uses and what the wiring diagram is for this? Thanks for any help you can toss me...

That power truck would use a standard Lionel electronic reverse unit. (610-0107-001) They sell for around 15.00. The wiring diagram can be found on Lionel's website. Red and black are the pick-ups, blue and yellow are the motor leads. You might want to check just to verify.
The basic electronic e-unit #610-0103-0100 will work with your truck and motor. Red and black on the board go to the motor red and black on the truck. Blue and white on the board goes to a miniature switch to engage/lock out the reverse function. Grey on the board goes to the rollers (yellow on the truck?) and brown on the board goes to neutral/ground (second black on the truck?)

Thanks for the input guys!
I forgot to add that there's 4 wires off of it-
-yellow
-dark blue
-red
-black
It's alittle on the wide side at 10 scale feet wide...no surprise there...but the price was right.
Yellow and blue from the truck go to grey and brown on the board.

Note that with the RMT truck just like that, the red was the wheels, and the black was the center rail. Verify what you have if you're going to connect a whistle, the reversing unit doesn't care.
The easy way is to find one of these RailKing models.

Bill, thanks for the wiring diagram!
John, yeah, it's on my list of things to aquire...and then redo as a rock island rocket.
Mike....this time around- yes! The pic in my head involves two lionel shorty observations flat end to flat end..shorten them up, add a baggage door each side and liken it to a modern streamlined KcKeen{and yes, a scale KcKeen is on my "to build" list too}.
