I received a Santa Fe GP35 last October. It has been operating fine. I use TMCC and a RW 110 watt transformer.

I put the engine onto the track last night and for 15 minutes everything operated fine. Then the engine took off at full speed for about 12 feet and then the cab light was blinking one flash. Looking that up in the manual, the one flash of the cab light meant motor stall. I pressed 0 to reset and started up the engine. It moved about 6 inches and the light started flashing again. Then moved the prgm/run switch to program and reset the engine to re-install features. I restarted the engine, and with a move of the throttle the engine lurched about 6 inches and the flashing cab light started.

I then switched the odyssey off. The engine would now move forward with a move of the throttle, but only at high speed. Once the locomotive was moving it would not respond to directional commands. Throttle commands would not work. All railsounds and couplers would respond to command signals in the way that they should. Switching the odyssey back on resulted in the flashing light after a 6 inch lurch forward.

I then tried the locomotive in conventional mode. With odyssey on, the locomotive would lurch 6 inches forward and then the cab light would flash the motor stall signal. I then tried with odyssey turned off. At starting speeds the locomotive would lurch forward 6 inches then stop, lurch forward six inches, then stop so on and forth. At low-medium speed the locomotive would then smooth out and operate normally and smoothly.   Turning the odyssey back on yielded the flashing cab light after a six inch lurch forward.

I took off the shell to see if there was anything wrong. There were no pinched wires, no broken wires, no burning electronics smell. Everything seemed to be as it should and in order.

I thought I would check with the forum before giving Lionel a call.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
