Dear group!

I could use some help with some of the door fixtures that I am designing. This is one of Camel's popular lift door mechanisms that was widely used on Youngstown doors. I think I got the basics right but this prototype picture is my best shot.

Here's what I came up with so far. Please note that the center of the hand lever and the center of the right fixture seem to be a bit off-set. My hope is that someone out there might have a more detailed picture of these parts. That would be very helpful!

Any help from you specialists would be highly appreciated! Of course I'll share the files with the community.

By the way - I've designed and printed a Viking roof for an Intermountain 1937 A.A.R. kit. There's so much possible now.

Thanks a lot!

Sarah

Hi Sarah, I've recently been detailing Youngstown double doors for a build project. The previously published photos of your work have helped a lot. Along with a couple photos put up by Gene.

I have also found the the mount location for the Camel handle and the guide track are offset. I think you're good with what you have.

Very nice work on the Viking!

Sarah

These parts only look BIG in the drawing.

So when you print them, the intense detail you desire may be a bit in the imagination of the viewer.

what you have looks great!

the wrench looks to me to be a bit straighter than the curve at the end you show and the other end in the arch a bit higher and straighter as I see it.

but the detail IS hard to see from your picture.

Thanks Alan, that's right. I will go over the design and post here again. You are right, these parts are tiny on the model but every inaccuracy translates.

I've changed my settings to print 25 microns of Z- resolution and achieved crazy details. I'll post the results here, too. C248F551-34E6-4F5F-8878-5F313372A573

These similar lift fixtures by Camel Co. have bern printed in high resolution. Primer, Paint and some dry brushing will augment the detail even further. These are great times in the hobby.

Take care

Sarah

Speaking of door hardware. Thought I’d share the current project:

Building the Yarmouth Model Works X31f kit. It provides a sprue of door hardware parts for each side. I think they are from Chooch, but I’m not sure of that

Using as many photos I can find. I’ve put together a pretty close facsimile of the door latching mechanism.
