Just bought/received an engine for our 4 year old Grandson for Christmas.  I gave it a try to learn it squeaks...constantly.  Oiled/greased it and still no fix.  Turned the engine around to go counter clockwise on the loop of track and no squeaks.  Thought that was my funny happening for the day...

He will love it for sure!!

I have found some wheels on the Tenders of Steam engines love to squeak.

I end up oiling them often.

Other engines have never been oiled, something about the wheel / Axle mating on some of them. And yes, Direction of turn makes a difference.

Note to self: Try flipping the squeaky axle end for end...

Yes, My Current Christmas engine Tender and the Naughty / Nice dump car are both doing this. The car is squeaking in both directions but much worse in one.
