Not sure what happened to you, but I have had things just dis-appear while trying to type out a post. Sometimes CTRL-Z will undo whatever happened and bring back some or all of the already typed text. Try it more than once if nothing happens the first time. I just happened onto this by accident one day. Experienced users may already know of it? Not sure that was your problem, but thought it might help?
