We use this car:
We just got it from the San Diego 3 Railers club. At the club we soak the "Sham Wow" pads in denatured alcohol and run it around the Atlas track.
Using it at home on Gargraves track, the Denatured Alcohol left a gritty, rusty surface on the rails, a few days after cleaning the track. I'm not exactly sure why it did this to the Gargraves track and not the Atlas track. This happened at home where I cleaned the track and then left the track alone. It did the same thing at my Dad's house on the big layout after running trains for a few hours after cleaning the track.
Maybe we'll try the Isopropyl Alcohol...maybe we just got the rails too wet.. I'm sure sure.
