Since moving to Florida, my trains have been in storage. I have no space for a layout. My sister recently moved down here and lives about 2 miles away. She has kindly offered me space in her lanai for a layout. After measuring the space several times, we decided that a 4x8 layout would fit best. While a 4x8 isn't big, I feel a small layout is better than no layout.

It dawned on me that a few years ago, I had purchased the "RR in a box" plans. The three modules form a layout 3'4" x 8'. The modules are designed to come apart for moving or storage, and are constructed out of foam core for light weight. Though designed to use MTH 031 track, I belive it can be modified for other track

Since I am not in the best of health and working with foam core would be light weight and a new challenge, I have decided to go this route. I can just sit the layout on a folding table for "bench work" and move it if necessary.

I ordered the foam core online and it is due to arrive in a couple more days. Will let you know how it goes.
