A hearty thank you to this forum for providing inspiration and useful information for my first layout built during the last 12 months. This 5X10 platform includes a 4X4 bump-out that will become a small yard next year. From my first question to this forum ("How do you search?") to equipment recommendations -- of course I needed those expensive screwdrivers, chop saw and a stream of other deliveries -- to a mountain of help from Sean's Train Depot (LCS and scenery), Eric's Trains and many other contributors here, you got me started on the layout and provided solutions to what I thought were insurmountable issues. This is a terrific community.

Duke-The layout looks good. I really like your rock work and the other scenery looks good. Really shows what you can do in a smaller space. Nice GP30's too. Congratulations!

Looks great, you have more progress in a year than I do, that's for sure!
Very nice looking layout, well done.
Duke, that is a terrific first layout. You certainly have some hidden talents there. You are now officially hooked in this great hobby and OGR forum. Keep our coming. 👍👍
Nice work. Also like that you posted a concise video - shows what you've done in under a minute.
Is there only supposed to be one video? There's still a box for a second one that says "deleted".
Well done!
Peter
Awesome progress, Duke. You have set the bar for us newbie’s since the lockdown. How were those rock hillsides made? They look great. I need to finish the surfaces of my similar elevated town embankment, so looking for a simple yet realistic method.
The mountain was made with Woodland Scenics Shaper Sheets glued to a foam or wood sub-structure.

Here's a great tutorial on Shaper Sheets from Sean at Sean's Train Depot.

It might have something to do with this: (Helping all the rest of us get more done) . You get a huge thanks from me.
Nice video and, yes, a lot of great work in only one year. Might I suggest you add a couple of still photography shots to this thread to let us see your scenes more readily?

Shaper sheets. OK, I’m down for that. You did a realistic job with the crinkle shaping - just the right amount. I’ll add their thin plaster maybe because my elevated section is removable. Thanks
