Looking Great! Please keep us posted
Here is a short video shot during initial testing.
Dave, Nice size layout. Are you going to post a track plan? Curious your use of space is going to be. Keep up the good work
Wow, that is going to be great!
Seems like there is reverse loop for only one direction, unless I am not seeing it. Any reason not to add one for the other direction?
Bruce
Dave, I like the large yard also. Have you planned your industries etc. yet?
Nice Job Dave, keep the pics coming.
What engine did you break out of the display for the inaugural run?
Nice job Dave!! Just curious, why did you cover the table with masonite, are you using it for sound deadening? I'm building a new layout also and am just getting ready to start laying track and was just wondering. Also, are you planning on any access hatches for the hard to reach area's?
Paul
Thanks for the comments guys !
Bruce: Right now I only have the one reverse loop which is mainly going to be used to turn entire passenger trains. I may work something else in later tho.
Al: No industries planned and the yard area isnt set in stone either. I want to get that turntable in and roundhouse then play with some ideas on yard layout. The area inside the curves on the right side is possibly going to be the town / city area.
Patrick: The inaugural run actaully was my Legacy BigBoy and a JLC Challenger with one 70' passenger car behind each to check for clearances on the curves.
Paul: Thats not masonite. That is slightly less than 1/4" sheets of cardboard that I have had access to for years. I attached the cardboard to the plywood then by the time the track and cork roadbed are put on the cardboard there is hardly any noise other than the trains and clickety-clack of the wheels. I use track screws that are just long enough to go into the cardboard, not the plywood underneath.
Dave,
What size switch did you use with the slip switch to make the cross through?? Look like #6 Ross but I may be way off. I'll give you a heads up when I go to Patricks and T & K.
I model the western roads, as you found out. I need to try out some of my engines!!
Frank
What height is your table top? It looks taller than average or is your basment ceiling just low?
WOW very nice track plan and off to a great start
