Nice job Dave!!  Just curious, why did you cover the table with masonite, are you using it for sound deadening?  I'm building a new layout also and am just getting ready to start laying track and was just wondering.  Also, are you planning on any access hatches for the hard to reach area's?

Paul

Thanks for the comments guys !

Bruce:  Right now I only have the one reverse loop which is mainly going to be used to turn entire passenger trains.  I may work something else in later tho.

Al:  No industries planned and the yard area isnt set in stone either.  I want to get that turntable in and roundhouse then play with some ideas on yard layout.  The area inside the curves on the right side is possibly going to be the town / city area.

Patrick:  The inaugural run actaully was my Legacy BigBoy and a JLC Challenger with one 70' passenger car behind each to check for clearances on the curves.

Paul:  Thats not masonite.  That is slightly less than 1/4" sheets of cardboard that I have had access to for years.  I attached the cardboard to the plywood then by the time the track and cork roadbed are put on the cardboard there is hardly any noise other than the trains and clickety-clack of the wheels.  I use track screws that are just long enough to go into the cardboard, not the plywood underneath.
