Received these beauties earlier in the week from Mr Muffin and had not had a chance to check them out. Am in a new temporary housing situation so just set up a 5' test track and dug out my Legacy/DCS systems and tried to remember how to connect everything. It's been more than a year and a half since I've had a test facility and the club layout has been 'down' as well all this time.

It was with some 'fear & trepidation' that I powered up the track and ran the 'Class A' back and forth a few times before unpacking the new diesels.

When I saw these in the catalog last year I thought 'Certainly are pretty' in their beautiful gleaming blue paint. No budget for them however so I forgot about them.

I have a set of Williams L&N E7s w/PS2.0 that are also quite nice but when Steve posted a photo of his set of L&N's last week - I flipped out. Budget or no, I haven't bought a 'new from a dealer' locomotive in many years now due to the prices. I contacted him and placed the order.  Am offering the Williams set on the FS board.

Many years ago my family was at the Chattanooga Choo Choo and saw a pair of these at rest. The paint was gleaming in the fading twilight and they were such a high gloss it looked like Imron paint. I believe they were lettered for the Tennessee Valley RR or similar.

On to the photos - here are a couple of quick shots in the florescent light of the garage. Will try for some more tomorrow in natural light. I'm embarrassed to say it wasn't until the end that I noticed the windshield was out in the lead unit. The last photo is of the trailing A.

Eventually the lobster claw will be replaced, I'll attach the pilot (Mario - are you making spacers for these?) and I may try a few of Rich Battista's tricks to give these a more scale appearance but for now - I really like them!

Sam, FYI..

There is a place called the Hobby Station  in Elizabethtown, Ky. that sells a lot of "O" gauge L&N engines and rolling stock.

I think some of it, are special runs made for him.  It's been a number of years since I have been there, so I don't know what he currently has.

He used to advertise in the "O" gauge train magazines under TNC Enterprises/Hobby Station.

His name is Tim Coyle, 1-270-737-2000.

They look great, Sam!!  What cars do you have for them to pull?  That will be neat to see the entire consist!!

Hey Mark - Don't have a matching set at this time. MTH did some 15" aluminum cars some years ago but the colors are pretty dark for my tastes. 15" cars would not look good with these either.

I have some unlettered (formerly Amtrak perhaps?) 21" K-Liners and have acquired a 18" baggage and a RPO car that I may try to letter for the L&N someday. Mr Muffin said he was going to talk with Mike Wolfe about producing a set for these which would be nice.

At present, I have an early MTH set that I decaled for the Southern giving them names of towns that I used to live in in Louisiana. I'll run these until something else. Here is the "New Orleans' that I run with Southern E6 #2800DSC01901.
