Lionel is offering some new N5B cabin cars in the latest and just prior catalogs. Price for each will keep me from purchasing all of them. Are there any PRR experts who could give a brief overview of those offered-so, for example, which are most likely to go with their early/later steam engines, early vs. later diesels, region/area differences,  etc.. My limited off the top-of-my-head knowledge is that the first ones had " PENNSYLVANIA" with a white line over that word, then " PENNSYLVANIA" only ( not sure when that change was made) only, in the mid-50s the PRR keystone was added, then the " PENNSYLVANIA" logo was eliminated in 1961-finally ( I think) they were painted orange in 1965. I dont know which had their truck sided painted tuscan, when antennas were added, or when changes were made, whether all their cabin cars were changed vs. only the newer ones. But knowing more would help in the selection of the most representative model.  Thanks in advance, turtle7

Send me an email.   I have a PDF file copy of the PRRT&HS issue or folder on painting cabins that lists when most changes took place by  year.

Remember, The RR put a new paint scheme in place, but generally cars were not changed until they came in for an overhaul or work in the shops.   so older paint schemes are very plausible after changes were noted.

Also, no cabins were ever painted tuscan!   PRR used "Freight Car Color" for cabins.   Early on the whole car, including the roof was freight car color (and the trucks).    Black roofs did not start until after WWII about 1947-48 I think.

As much as I can remember PRR painted truck side frames on cabins and freight cars the same color as the body.   I do not remember reading they had a standard issued to paint them black.

Yellow handrails did not start until after WWII.

Antennas were not used in the NE corridor because of the electrification and many cars did not ever have them.
