Well hi guys just got a set of PRR E-8s last week. I think that Lionel did a great job on these locos.

When I pulled them out of the box the tuskinred looked to purple. well not to bad I can live with that.

I put them on the track an programmed them in to my remote and ran them.

All I can say is these run so smooth was very impressed with how well thy run. The smoke units are just as impressive a nice low smoke at idle and when on the move throdled up nice.

But the paint still bothered me so I had to wether them to fit in. I pooled out the books and looked at pic. Then started weathering them. Well now here how thy came out.

Wonderful set of E8's     Thanks for posting pictures.  Tuscan (Red) always seems to have different tones and color renditions.
Older set of Weaver E8's that date to the 1990's  These have been upgraded.

Note the color differences, even the two Weaver models are slightly different.

Your weathering looks great hah3.

Personally, I like the 'purple' over the Hershey Chocolate that many of the Tuscan pieces appear to be. We had a set of the MPC F3s that were simply beautiful in the 'purple' hue while our JLC Tuscan GG1 had definitely been dipped in chocolate!

I'll see if I can locate some photos...

Looks great... and sounds terrific!!!

Seems as if Lionel has carried the sound fidelity of the VL Centipede horn (stereophonic echo) into the E8/E9 line-up.  Much better than what I hear from my F3's.  I don't own a Centipede, so I can't compare first-hand... only by what I'm hearing from video(s) posted here.  Makes buying an E8/E9 pair very tempting.
