Well I did not have a chance to tell everyone that I did get my replacement unit 4062 and all is well. Lionel even contacted me to make sure I was happy. So I wanted to share some videos of these new runners. I want to commend Lionel for updating the sound to the correct horn and updating the design to semi fixed pilots. Very nice...

I’ll be getting the 2015 Conrail version tomorrow to enjoy. I do agree the horn on the 2017 models is even better than the 2015 models.
They look great as does your layout. Had the old BN units. How do those compare with these? IIRC the older tooling ones were slightly small.
Interesting. I did not realize that the UP ever had SD40 units WITHOUT dynamic brakes.

Apparently, these are ex-MP units that didn't have dynamic brakes.

the SD40's look GREAT. I really wish I had the UP one instead of the Chessie (B&O) that I own, Everything on my layout is UP, Santa Fe, or another western Road..... the Chessie SD40 doesn't really fit in pulling any of my rolling stock!

This an SD40 built before 1973, not an SD40-2 built from 1973 to about 1984.

After a screw problems. Mine run great pulling 19 auto carrier cars, your layout looks awesome.
