OK guys here it is a chance to own a never imported before in o scale the New York Central L-2c and

L-2d Mohawks. 4 model versions will be offered which will be early and late models of the 2 sub classes. Make your reservation on the Sunset website. This will be a crown version with more detail than usual. When they get 75 reservations (2 and 3 rail total) production will be a go. Don't miss this one. Remember the Erie Berks where are they?

Gary,

I have been involved with 2 rail o scale since 1976 and belonged to the TCA for 10 years after which I switched over to 2 rail o scale. I  have consulted with Precision Scale Co., Overland Models and of course Sunset Models on many o scale projects over the years. The last one we did was the Sunset Erie Berkshire.

This early Mohawk project is one I have been proposing  for several years now. I will be working with Sunset's design engineers as before to accurately produce the Mohawks.  I am a member of the New York Central Historical Society and work in the archive so my interest is obviously in New York Central.  I am the president of the O scale Kings, manager of the Cleveland O scale show and secretary of the Cleveland Western Reserve O Scale club.

I am trying to get as many reservations for the Mohawks as we can so it can be feasible to import. The models at $1850 will not be cheap but they will be a crown model with more detail than normal on the Sunset locomotives. Another importer quoted me $3500-4000 to do this model so the Sunset price looks like a deal and with Weaver Models gone this is what you are going to get in the future.

I greatly support any who wish to purchase one of these models. They will be imported in both 2 and 3 rail. Sunset needs to have a minimum of  75 models sold total to do the project. Please reserve on line direct or with your dealer. Reservations will produce the models procrastinating will not. You will not be disappointed.

Thank you all for your interest.  Sam

I'm also a member of the New York Central Historical Society.  Hopefully someday we will meet up.  Thanks for posting.

Sam and I met shortly after I started working in the late 1990s with Dad at Sunset Models. What a powerhouse of knowledge. We toiled for 2 years putting the Erie Berkshire together when I was working with a real dork of a Builder. That project languished for a long time and was passed from one builder in one country to another. Sam never lost patience or interest in the project and because of him it came out great.

I expect nothing less than that with this Mohawk project. Now we got a real team together to make these things right. All we need are your orders.  You can place your order HERE.
