MRC has a new set of products: Lighting Genie, Loco Genie, Command Genie that appear to be the solution that some of us exciting about the LC+ locos have been speculating about.

A set of 2.4Ghz transmitter/receivers coming that control the loco operation with sound included on the receiver.    Could be a great way to upgrade my Williams locos to run RC with my Lionchief Plus (and also run with my DCS Remote Commander which is not RC but is command control).

MRC has videos, product pics, and FAQs for each product line on their web site (modelrectifier.com).

Once these products are out, I can upgrade my Williams and other traditional locos that are worth bringing into my command control environment.

And it looks like wireless turnout control will be available as well!

Pricing looks reasonable.   And yes, there will be multi-loco remotes.  Product line spans multiple scales - so the larger sales volume in the smaller scales will help to keep the product line viable and upgrading.

If all this comes to pass, it looks like we will have a full-featured 2.4Ghz wireless command control option.

All this (especially BPRC) is exciting to me, I feel the train community is finally catching up with the times.

I've been running BPRC (battery-powered, remote-control), using RCS/Deltang gear, since May of 2015 and so far have had ZERO failures.

The big issue for us O-scalers is finding the space for a battery large enough to give us the run time we're looking for.  I've been using 2000 and 2200 Mah battery packs and getting 2+ hours run time on them.  If you don't mind having to recharge them more often, there's no reason a pack with smaller Mah couldn't be used.  A smaller Mah (for the most part) means a smaller size pack that would fit in more locos.

Looks pretty decent to me.  the tech is straight forward.  I don't particularly like the actual remote in use, but that is a personal preference of ascetics.  I look forward to seeing more about these products as they are released.

Thanks for sharing, Ken, as I would not normally find myself looking at MRC products.

It will be interesting to see if the N and HO scale versions directly plug into the DCC ports on existing locos.  For O gauge AC three rail, installation of the receiver will be one of the issues--how easy?  If layout control is inexpensive and easy, would be a good addition to a LionChief/LionChief+ layout as mentioned.  May lead to Lionel making LC/LC+ receivers available as separate sale if the market is there.  No question but 2.4 GHz R/C is a good, reliable, inexpensive communication system.
