New problem with err cruise

Yesterday my 3rd rail engine was running along chuffing and smoking just fine when all of a sudden the chuff and smoke quit but the engine kept running. I tried to reprogram it but the tender comes on with sound of idle when the power is applied and does not need to be called up by the cab 2. Any fix except to send back? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the chuff switch has a problem. I'm not sure how 3rd Rail does them, but it's typically either a microswitch on a cam or one or two little magnets and a reed switch on a wheel.
