Very Cool Alan, you have to be proud of yourself knowing that people of all walks all around the world loves your work! I just get happy watching the post you put up here of your great builds! Thanks for sharing with the rest of us!
Look'n great! Al, have you ever modeled a flare tower? If so, do you have anything to show me?
I noticed lots of yellow fittings on your bench. Did you pre-paint them? I didn't notice any yellow piping in Plastruct's catalog.
Thank you very much mike.
myles,
there is a flare on this model in the back. It is the tallest structure on the model. It is nothing more than a vertical pipe with a line for steam and one with gas to keep the flame on.
I have also done flare structures using angle. The look pretty close to transmission towers.
The plastruct parts are yellow colored right from plastruct. You can by many different colors from them. When you buy pipe you just add a "y" prefix . An example would be tb-4y

While looking through my Plastruct catalogue to order some parts for my Steel mill I came across a photo of one of your models. Alan, your famous, your everywhere!
Thanks for posting here. Roo.
Great job as usual. Did you build the pump and motor or is that a plastruct item?
Joe
the pump and motor are a plastruct item. I use code number pcm-3 and pcm-7

Thanks Alan, that's good to know for future projects.
Is this wonderful project for a hobbyist or a commercial customer?
Myles,
it is for a hobbyist. He is very happy with the project. When a customer is happy with what I am doing on a project, it encourages me to go an extra mile with detail.
you were asking me before about a flare structure. I just got an order from a commercial customer for one. I will post it when I start construction.

Excellent building.
Great job Alan, looks very realistic!
That is superb (again), Alan.
It looks like it fits into a space on the layout. Did the owner send you the board?
Thanks max.
the owner gave me a paper template.

Excellent! The lighting really makes it pop. What did you use for the baseplate?
Myles
thank you. I used 1/4 - inch luon. I have used this for model bases for many years.

I think he is referring to lauan plywood. Common and inexpensive. Good stuff for painting.
Outstanding!!
Alan, it seems as all the superlatives have already been used. Suffice it to say the customer should be very happy since I don't believe he could ever get anything better!

Beautiful job, Alan.
amazing work!
WOW.....Excellent.......Did you scratch build your chain link fence or did you buy it somewhere. If so, where ? Looking for O scale chain link for a project of mine.
Erik, Mr. Scrapiron, Bob, JJames, Coach Joe, JPV, Pat, and Santiago Thank you very much. The customer picked it up today and got it back to Delaware before the rains will hit.
Troy,
I make the fence from scratch. It is not too difficult. I can tell you how to make it if you would like.
645,
You got it exactly right. The 1973 Challenger is painted with modern base coat/ clear coat paint making it much more vibrant than back in 1973. I also put a blackout decal on the hood that really sets off the super blue color. It is the original color on the fender tag. The four speed pistol grip shifter and the 340 make it fun to drive.
Again, Thank you all. This was another fun project.
