I am starting a project to construct a stone bridge based on the Thomas Viaduct in Maryland. The bridge will be five feet long 12 inches wide and 13 inches high. It will be straight, unlike the Thomas Viaduct which is curved. I will construct the bridge using abs beams and square tubes to act as the main structure. Styrene sheets capped with plastruct PS 85 g scale dressed stone. The bridge will be constructed in two halves for shipping. Here are a couple of pictures showing some of the materials.

Alan.
I look forward to this project. Thanks for posting Roo.
Alan, that will be a great project! I'll look forward to your progress and conclusion!
I will definitely be following his thread.
Definitely not a culvert over a crick. Will be an IMPRESSIVE model.
This is going to be a good one...let me grab popcorn.
Dave
Thanks for posting Alan. Looking forward to your progress.

Alan. Can I ask a question. I know your busy but I have to ask.
Did you glue two lengths of flat one smaller than the other on two pieces to get that lip so the the other sides would fit neatly ?
Thanks in advance your a very clever modeller. Roo.
Roo,
The strips have a notch in the corners so they fit neatly. The pieces are from Plastruct.
Alan - your modeling looks great! Your work bench looks pretty interesting too.

Going to be great! You must have stock in Evergreen and Plastruct...
Coming along fine Alan very neat and tidy work. Thanks for posting and the tip on the plastruct pieces I found them in the Catalogue didn't know they existed! Must read it more often. Roo.
Here is a picture of the first pier with the dressed stone material on it. I have a splice on each side and am thinking how I will deal with them.
Roo
I am glad I could help. Plastruct has an amazing amount of materials and I still find new things to use in the catalog.
Myles
I have no stock in plastruct or evergreen but I do have a lot of their product.

Very nice Alan, a beautiful structure!
Looking really sweet Alan!
I assume to make the arches you cut out a circle from one sheet then sliced it in half????
It's looking good Alan.
I like your work don't always comment but I'm here. Thanks for posting. Roo.
Alan,
Curious to know what you use for a template and cutting device to cut the circular arches in the plastic sub-wall and stone walls. All very nice.

Melgar,
i always used a two pointed compass. I then bought a tool from micro mark that had a blade on one end and an adjustable centerpoint. This could cut up to 8 inches in diameter. They no longer sell this item. I use an accu arc adjustable plastic tool for larger circles. The openings on this model are 8 inches in diameter.
Alan, the more pronounced stone really adds some pop. Nice project.
Great work as always Alan. Looks terrific. I also did a Maryland bridge, the Carrolton Viaduct but I won't post pictures here and sidetrack the thread.
Alan - excellent!
Thank you very much Dennis and Joe.
This is definitely going to make a statement!
Dave
It's modelling at the highest level, that's not something you can knock together in 5 minutes. Well done mate. Roo.
Impressive project. I see several rattle cans in one photo. Great paint job! Can you outline your colors and steps?
Bob
Alan, amazing work. Thank you for sharing the step by step. You certainly are a Master Builder.
Tom
Looking good!
Alan,
That turned out very nice!
Beautiful workmanship Alan. Just giving it a "like" is not sufficient.
MELGAR
Amazing what you can do with styrene. It's an inspiration to us all.
