New Tinplate

If you buy what MTH calls conventional the motor is an open frame type with a mechanical E-unit.  If you buy a PS2/3 engine then it will have a can motor and an electronic E-unit with all the other electronics associated with protosounds.

John is correct. The traditional versions have motors and e-units that look just like originals and the loco's usually do not have traction tires. The PS versions have traction tires and will pull tree stumps.

I do consider myself "old school". Everything I own is at least eighty-years old, some are almost at the century mark. To see and hear the new traditional versions my self control is almost lost. Right now I'm watching the secondary market. It's only a matter of time.

Thanks for the info guys. Good to see they are still making tinplate the way (I think) it should be made.

Right now the bulk of my tinplate is Marx scale tin, along with a few Marx 6" cars and a handful of late prewar Lionel. Besides just really liking it, the price is right for my hobby dollar. Maybe some day I will be able to buy some of this new tinplate, so it's nice to know there is some out there that I might really like to own!  LOL

You cannot beat the look, feel and operation of the recent MTH Lionel traditional pieces.

Do the traditional versions of the 263E have the smoke feature?
