Here's an MTH 50' boxcar decorated for Nickel Plate. The design and lack of a roofwalk places it in the 70's, well after the N&W acquired the Nickel Plate. Can anybody tell me if any cars of this type were actually painted in this scheme, maybe because the N&W used NKP reporting marks for some reason, or maybe the NKP had cars like this before they took off the roofwalks and they just left the paint job alone when they removed them? I like the decoration, it's a nice looking car, but if it's anachronistic I might just put it on my table at the next train show.

Nickel Plate owned numerous 50 foot box cars of several different designs but none of this type as modeled by MTH.

Interestingly, here's a roofwalk equipped 60 foot car which is of a very modern design for NKP given the 1964 merger date:

I believe this series of cars was built in '63. Many folks are surprised to learn NKP rostered box cars so "contemporary" in appearance.

As you stated, the MTH car is a nice looking model; however, it's not a very accurate representation of a Nickel Plate 50 foot box car.

I hope this helps.
