I've been been a big fan of Weaver engines and have diesels in all the road names I operate, as well as a large number of freight cars. I've been disappointed that not only have no new diesels been introduced by them but the number of models they offered was dwindling. I just visited their website for the first time in a while and now see no diesels listed at all on their product locator page. I realize I can drop them a note regarding future production but was wondering if anyone here had already heard anything on the subject. One of the features that nudged them ahead of the competition for me was the fact that they were the last US-made engines available.

They can't get parts right now for diesel. They are going to be made again. They are giving them a rest a few years.
I now see a previous thread on this but no definitive information for the future. Perhaps I should send them an e-mail, offering my support for new offerings.
Somebody can correct me if I've got any of these wrong, but I believe the MTH SD40-2, VO1000, U25B, and possibly the E-8 are all based on molds originally made for Weaver.
Also the BLW RF16 Sharks and ALCO "C628" & Rs11's as well.

I guess parts suddenly became available again. Weaver has announced new RS11's in either 2 rail or 3 rail. I just reserved a CV unit in the 2-rail version.

I called weaver models approx 3 weeks ago when the launched their latest catalog online. They claim the parts for the Rs3, GP38 and Fa-2's are still out of stock [even though they still show them in their catalogs]. Only the Rs11's will be out later this year.
Link to just announced Weaver RS-11 is here. Looks good! Taking orders now!
Here is the Delaware & Hudson version. Very cool!
No mention of being made or assembled in USA, so I assume it's imported?
They e-mailed me about three weeks ago and said they didn't have any power trucks!
Anybody know what really happened to Weavers diesels?

German,
If you want to know where these new Weaver diesels are being made, I suggest you call them tomorrow. I wouldn't assume anything. Also, while you have the phone, you can ask them about their plans for this year.
Jim, I don't feel a particular need to call them on this issue, since I am now concentrating my purchases on only a few roadnames, none of which the new engine is being offered in at this time. I do regularly check in on their site for new products that do interest me however. Much of the equipment I have purchased in the past was from Weaver, largely but not solely, because it was made in the USA. I simply couldn't help but notice that the "Made with Pride in Northumberland, PA. USA" banner that is prominently displayed on the pages describing the rolling stock made here, and on past diesels, is not on the page for the RS-11. Perhaps I should have phrased it as a statement rather than a question . I understand that not every product can be made here for one reason or another. I have contacted them in the past, offering my future support and hope for continued US production whenever possible.
I was told by a reputable dealer that Weaver was done with brass steam and would be making very few new diesels. They made it seem like Weaver might be on their way out of the train biz.
Ah, the rumor mongers at work! I spoke with Gary at Weaver early in May (about a Scalecoat II color), and during the conversation asked him about the lack of diesels. His response was that due to a past erratic supply of SOME components combined with the company's assessment of the market (over-saturation of product by ALL manufacturers) they were giving diesels a rest for a few years.
I fail to understand why you don't simply pick up the phone and call the supplier directly when you have questions like this instead of relying on undocumented opinions and hobby shop gossip.

If you check their site, they have an RS-11 with about 6 railroads. I don't think they can keep up with what they have now.
