HERE IS THE LATEST NORFOLK-SOUTHERN HERITAGE UNITS................THE ERIE RAILROAD!!!

My only question is: Do I want it in Lionel or Mth? I guess it depends who has the most "bells and whistles!
It's beautiful!
Would have to be MTH for me since Lionel does not offer a fixed pilot option.
What a waste of paint. While Ere did use that dark green/light gray green/yellow on some of the passenger loco's, most of the engines were gloss black with the yellow winged E and yellow diamond (including a fair number of the passenger engines).
This is how I remember the them:
Chuck is absolutely correct! The Erie "black & yellow" scheme is also what I remember as a kid, growing up in New Jersey (back in the 1940s & 1950s). Although the Erie "passenger green"is indeed nice looking, I personally would have preferred the famous "Erie black & yellow". But then, NS would have too many black units running around.
I really like the look of this locomotive!
Beautiful, as are the rest of the NS Heritage units I've seen thus far.
I also grew up with the Erie--rode aboard its trains a great many times--and I have no trouble whatsoever appreciating what NS did with this commemorative unit.
My favorite so far.....

What's wrong with the color? This one is sitting on a turntable less than 30 miles from me. And the MTH versions is sitting in my basement!
First, I don't recall anyone saying anything was "wrong with the color". Some of us just PREFER the famous "Erie black & yellow" styling for freight units, and the NS heritage unit is indeed a freight unit.
Second, your photo is of an Erie E unit, which was for PASSENGER service!
There were only 14 E-8's and they were the prime recipients of that passenger scheme. Alco PA's had both schemes and most of the EMD F and Alco F units were either dual service or straight freight. Almost all of those wore the black and yellow scheme.
There is nothing "wrong" with the scheme chosen other than it seems ironic that it really is not that representative of the railroad line's heritage that it is supposed to be speaking to.
