I posted a few shots of this DD Kozak’s kit I built up for my layout lately. I am now trying to put the final touches on it today. I decided against using the sign templates that came with it because  I really liked the distressed brick textures that would be exposed. The machines and details are from Wiseman and others that I’ve collected over time. Still deciding if I want to put the work in to add lights over the bathroom and office area. The roof is removable to show off the details. I may add some more details over time (scrap materials, tools, etc.). Hoping to get it planted later today. Here’s some shots of it on my workbench:

Glad you guys like it. Here’s a couple more shots of it on the layout with the lighting connected up:

Dave, I was going to some of his parts for the overhead belts and other hardware but ran out of ambition and then decided to use electric machine tools.

One of my pals showed me this site:

I am going to order a few things soon.

Thanks. Here’s the sign. I kept it simple and kind of generic, mostly because I liked the brick so much and didn’t want to cover it up too much. I used a sign maker off the internet and was able to save it as a .jpeg image. I usually insert the image into a blank Word doc because I like the ability to easily resize the sign in actual length units, not pixels:

Thx guys. Ron, the castings are a combination of items out of my detail parts collection. I constantly seek out detail parts  from Keil, Scale City, Berkshire Valley, Grandt, Tichy, etc. A bunch of the white metal machine tool castings are unidentified at this point but I suspect some might be from Selley maybe.

Here’s some Scale City parts (liked them so much I have more on order now):

A bunch of machine tools of unknown origin (motors are actually Plastruct pieces):

Steam powered dynamo is all Wiseman parts, I think I got the electrical panel from him at the Chicago show years ago:

OUTSTANDING!  Is there a fee associated with this site?

Dave

Dave, that site popped up with a quick search. It generates a .jpeg (or .png) image you can download for free.

J., I would love to learn machining someday. I am utterly fascinated by it and like watching anything about it on YouTube.

Pingman, good idea. I mostly phone-post now and tend to forget updates and keeping a thread alive. In any case, this project is now on the layout and will be detailed more over time. I am now making steady progress on my next project, an Altoona Model Works extended car shop (with machine shop addition) to replace my current one:
