There is a club in northern lower Michigan that does a custom Lionel car run late each year, and they post it on OGR. The club's name escapes me, and I believe that one of the members is a boat captain who lives in that vicinity - I think his OGR name is Captain John or something like that. If you try a few searches on the forum, you can probably track them down.
Edit: Found them. Northern Michigan Railroad club in Traverse City. http://www.nmrrc.org/ Not to be confused with the National Mini Rex Rabbit Club (nmrrc.net) - really!
