This began as a RK 2-8-8-2. AHM 0-8-0 tender body, Protocoupler on tender, Electrocoupler on pilot,
TMCC/RS installed by Train America (I wasn't doing my own, yet), no EOB Cruise, but series-wired motors.
It's greatly flawed as a model, but it runs well, looks pretty accurate-ish (see Internet) and is close to the
scale size for the prototype. All kinds of fiddling with the details. Sand dome is lead. Cylinders increased
in size (lead sheet, brass washers, epoxy). An issue has appeared with the epoxy filler where the front dome was;
I'll fix it eventually.
I've got another RK 2-8-8-2 in the box, waiting. I want to do another, better one. The NYC had 14 or so.
I don't like doing things twice, but ERR Cruise control would be really sweet. This one switches very sure-footedly,
and is not a speed-demon, but it will not get down to that slow, slogging, constant speed that cruise would make possible.
The NYC occasionally assigned these to road freights.
