O Scale Elephant?

eBay has both K-line and Lionel O scale elephants, just search “O scale elephants”

Michael's, AC Moore and Hobby lobby have a selection of nicely detailed animals in various sizes. They sell them loose in the bins. All types.

well, i can't point to you to a source but I can offer encouragement.  They DO exist in proper scale.  I bought 3 from a vendor at York.  Have no idea of the 'brand' though or where he got them.

I have seem them in some places but they are way oversized, including the JoAnn one's.  At least in stores by me.

Again, somewhere the do exist.  So have fun searching!

Gentlemen: Thanks for all of the help. I got 2 O scale elephants from Ebay. They came in a set with 2 giraffes. I knew you all would not fail at my odd requests of a moose and, most recently, elephant. I promise that I will not try to stump you in the future by asking for leads on an O scale Platypus.

I hope you take what I am about to say in the spirit of imitation being the sincerest form of flattery. I love the way your elephant box car is open so the elephant can be seen behind 2 cross boards. I want to do the same thing with my circus train Elephant Transport stock car. Sorry to be a copy-cat, but, I really like it.

I cannot think of too many items on our railroads that are original.  What I like about our hobby is an idea from a fabulous N scale layout might look good on a mediocre layout such as ours.

I've often wondered what our 'elephant' car would look like with three cross boards instead of two but I don't want to take it apart and redo it.  The bundle of hay is from a set of a half dozen or so.  A block of wood painted yellow would do just as well.

Thanks for your reply. I like the 2 boards retaining the elephant. Though, in real life, if the elephant wanted to, it could walk through 2 boards as if they weren't there. But, with only 2 retaining boards, more of the elephant can be seen. Therefore, I will also use 2.

My circus train elephant transport car is almost finished. I will post the finished product in a few days. My sincere thanks to rattler21, AKA John for giving his blessing for me to use his design for the interior. Photos will follow in a future post.

Randy - I was in our local Tractor Supply today. They sell the Schleich line of wild kingdom animals. They had two different elephants: one was $ 5.99 and the other was $ 9.99.

Glad that you found what you needed.

Here are photos of the finished Bungling Brothers Circus elephant transport car. The photos with the door open does not show off the elephant very well due to the lack of light inside the car. The Elephant is standing on a bed of straw. There is a bale of hay on the floor in case he gets hungry. The hay bale and the free straw were from Scenic Express. I also put wood planking on the visible part of the floor. The planks and the retaining boards at the door are from a craft wood parts company. The line of product is called "Woodsies Craft Sticks".

G3750. Yes it was Hershey. It was always fun to go over and see this. How would they ever know this elephant would only go in the car backwards?
