I have purchased several of Doug's O Gauge Haulers and they are great. I noticed it's hard to continually pack and unpack diesel engines without breaking something, so I have a bunch of engine Haulers where they are always stored. No more damage!  I don't have a layout so I'm constantly taking trains to our club and the Haulers make it easy. Thanks Doug

I agree, Jim911.  They are the best!  There was another fellow 10 years ago who made similar boxes from brown cardboard, but you could not fill them with locomotives - they were just too heavy.  Doug has the right idea.  One level of locomotives is enough by itself.  Two levels of cars are easy to pick up.

I gently remove the side foam before removing a locomotive; when placing it in a Hauler, I remove the side foam and position the engine, then carefully slide the foam in.  Nothing has bent or broken, using this technique

I have a small hand truck that can be oriented as a vertical truck or as a small flatbed.  It allows moving multiple haulers in and out of club layouts.

Don't forget the MDF base with tracks routed in them for engines. They replace the foam bottom.

You don't even have to replace the foam, just put the wood base right on top of that foam at the bottom. That way you still have some cushion between the bottom of the box and the wood......just in case the Hauler hits the floor a little harder than you would like. There is still room to put the foam on top without it being too high for the lid. That also eats up any space between the lid and foam so there is no up & down movement if they are bouncing around in your vehicle in any way.
