I started working on a K-Line 4-6-6 Tank/Suburban engine that had let out its smoke and quit. I expected to find a bad Cruise board but instead found the large triac on the R2LC had burned up. The odd thing is this board uses a male 24 pin header on the R2LC and female connector on its motherboard. Never came across this setup before. Obviates simply swapping boards. Hopefully changing out the triac will fix the problem, otherwise a connector swap on the motherboard may be required.

The R2LC is a CO8. I hope its not a custom version to accept the special K-Line cruise setup commands.

Good to know G, I appreciate the offer. Replaced the triac and  repaired the smoke unit and all is good. My friend will be happy as I was expecting to have get a Cruise M and fabricate one of my 10 buck chuff and puff boards.

Next question, do you know if there are keystrokes to calibrate for four chuffs? I did input the gear ratio and wheel diameter but that did not help. Its putting out about 3 chuffs and was hoping there is a procedure similar to TAS EOB which allows you to fine tune the chuff rate.

Edit, I found the instructions for setting chuff rate.

DIR, Brake, AUX1, # where # is simply number of chuffs.

I fine tuned the the chuffs per rev using the gear ratio setting

DIR, BOOST, AUX1, 260

actual gear ratio is 25:1 or 250. 260 gave a chuff closer to driver rotation.
