We have a MTH steam engine #30-1125-1 with QSI. The engine was running just fine, and we boxed it up. About 3 weeks later we wanted to run it and put it on the track. It started up like normal, then the bell started ringing. What happened and how do we turn the bell off.

Thanks in advance for any help,

I wish I had an answer for you but I have the same type of engine (4-6-4 Hudson) 30 being the rail king designator 1125 model number and 1 (not sure).  My problem is that if I activate the whistle (either from a z1000 or a Lionel KW transformer, the whistle will not shut off, and it doesn't have a bell sound either, or it is worn out too.  I have opened the tender, there is no battery to replace, nor is there an empty spot for one. It has a QSI board attached to the bottom electronic (e unit/?).  This engine must be even prior to PS1 but I have never been able to get any info on it even from MTH. I will be checking back to your post often to see if you get any solid info where I have failed to see any.   Good luck with your endeavor to solve the issue.

That is a DCRU with an added whistle board, no bell.  The whistle board likely has a bad component.  They are no longer available from MTH, but I have a few.

My Mth Box has  MT-1104 #3225  Hudson  (My mistake when referencing the posts above) Anyways, the DCRU is listed  and alludes to being fully upgradable to digital sound.   The smoke unit is an old pusher type (Gear and piston like American Flyer 1950's). I do not want to get in trouble with Admin here so i'll get back t you about the replacement board if still available.   Thanks for the info, this is the first substantial step to solving the problem since I bought the engine over a year ago.
