Hello, I just got what I think is a new in box GG1. I'm afraid that the pantographs might be messed up? They popped up when I removed the engine from the box. I'm not sure if that is normal? I looked at the instructions about installing them after starting the engine up, and installing the rear first, then pressing direction button and installing the front.

Should I remove them before power up?

I have not tested the engine yet. I will probably charge it first.DSC_1551

Do the porch steps actually unfold?

I only want modern diesels!!!

Engineer-Joe,

You do not have to remove the panto's to test if they are put on correctly.  The mechanism is driven with a Rubber Grommet and will only slip if jammed.  So it won't get damaged.  They should be on correctly.

It has been a long time and I don't have access to one right now, but I think the porch steps do come down.  Try to bring down easily.
