Hi Steve,

I liked ratpak's idea so much that I've already offered it to the committee for review!  At the moment though, we have three car designs "on deck" at Lionel so it may be a little while before we get to it!!

I also like your idea about an "N" gauge "LIRR park train" on the Historic Lionel Layout at Riverhead.  As a matter of fact, our HO committee incorporated the entire Riverhead Museum site on our HO layout at the RMLI Greenport site.  Here are a few pictures of the modelling in progress.

We'll have to see what the LVC committee thinks!  It could be a winter 2015 addition to the Historic Lionel Layout at Riverhead!!

Don

PS,  for our gentle readers who might not know, the Railroad Museum of Long Island supports model/toy trains through exhibits, displays and educational offerings at both of our Museum sites.  We have incorporated "O" gauge, "HO" gauge, "N" Gauge and "G"arden railroading into our permanent and traveling exhibits

Yeah ratpak!

Belgian Waffles - made famous at the 1964 - 1965 World's fair!  YUM!  Yesterday, over breakfast, one of the boys told me about his first experience at the '64 - '65 NY World's Fair, they ended their visit that day at the Ireland pavilion where they found Irish Coffee for $1.00 a glass.  From then on every visit started and ended at the Ireland pavilion!   Happy St. Patricks Day!

This just in . . . . .  literally "right out of the box" from Lionel, Concord NC!!  The "decorated model" for our SKU 6-58579 LIRR G-16 Exhibit Car.  This is the prototype model from China sent for our approval.  The technicians at the factory have done an outstanding job of rendering all the colors and artwork of artist George Wybenga.

Here you can see the liveried parts that make up a Lionel "aquarium car."  The plastic body, ours will have clear, smooth side windows, (rather than the "wavy" clear plastic fishy windows),  the "filmstrip" that is stretched between the motorized rollers attached to the car's metal base and the translucent "background" that will be illuminated from within - the "filmstrip" travels around this artwork.

We are very pleased with the workmanship and I have sent our approval to Lionel this afternoon.  Ordering closes on this very unique . . . . very collectible Lionel car on Saturday, March 22!!  Grab an order form at www.rmli.us

Here's hoping you enjoyed this little look "backstage" in the building of Lionel/Railroad Museum of Long Island Collectible Cars!!

Don
